This page contains sample phone scripts to help you make calls to your state legislators regarding some of the top bills we are working on that are actively moving in the legislature. There are a lot of bad bills, and some really great ones too, but this list simply highlights ones that are on the move.

Things change quickly during session, and we will strive to keep this as current as possible.

At the bottom of this page, you can easily find your legislator if you’re not sure.

Senate Bill 286: Attack On Youth Health & Privacy – ACT NOW

This bill passed Senate Health Committee and is in Senate Judiciary as of 2/24.

Hi, I’m_____ and I’m a constituent of Senator ____ . I am urging him/her to please vote no on Senate Bill 286. This bill takes away a young person’s right to private medical records pertaining to birth control and mental health. This could drive up unintended youth pregnancy and erect barriers to live saving treatment. We all want open communication between parents and kids, but there needs to be a safety net for vulnerable young people.

Senate Bill 460: Stop Vaccine Rollbacks – ACT NOW

This bill passed the Senate and is in the House of Delegates Health Committee as of 2/24.

Hi, I’m ____ and I’m a consituent of Delegate _____. I am urging them to vote no on Senate Bill 460. West Virginia schools have a strong immunization policy that helps keep our kids and communities healthy. State lawmakers must stop efforts to rollback our current policy in order to protect children and communities from preventable diseases.

House Bill 2006: Governor Morrisey’s Ban on Trans People in Public Spaces – ACT NOW

This bill attempts to rigidly define sex in state law, opening the door to discrimination against transgender and nonbinary people. It could be used to deny individuals access to public spaces, healthcare, and essential services.
