The CICADA Center is a brick-and-mortar reproductive freedom resource center made possible through a partnership between St. John’s Episcopal Church and WV FREE. We exist to provide compassionate, evidence-based, and non-judgmental support to people navigating pregnancy decisions and reproductive health needs.
Unlike so-called “crisis pregnancy centers” that rely on misinformation or coercion, the CICADA Center is transparent, trustworthy, and grounded in respect for personal autonomy. Our role is not to direct decisions—but to support people with accurate information, meaningful resources, and dignity at every step.

Why CICADA?
Cicadas are powerful symbols of transformation, resilience, renewal, and voice. They emerge after long periods of quiet growth—unafraid to be seen or heard. The CICADA Center embraces this symbolism by creating a space where people can access care, speak openly, and make decisions aligned with their values, free from stigma or pressure.

What We Offer
The CICADA Center provides full-spectrum pregnancy and reproductive health support, including:
Pregnancy & Options Support
- Lab-quality or rapid pregnancy testing
- Unbiased, non-directive options counseling
- Clear, factual information about abortion, adoption, and parenting
Referrals & Care Navigation
- Trusted abortion providers
- Adoption agencies
- OB/GYN, midwifery, doula prenatal and postnatal care
- Mental health support
- Financial and social service resources
Material & Practical Support
- Diapers and formula
- Prenatal vitamins (for those continuing a pregnancy)
- Menstrual and period supplies
- On-site period pantry with storage for community distribution
Education & Community Resources
- Evidence-based educational materials (including Spanish-language resources)
- Educational workshops and support groups (coming soon)
- Connections to telehealth services, hotlines, chat/text support, and virtual counseling through partner organizations
Who We Serve
We welcome all people, including LGBTQ+ individuals, young people, parents, and anyone seeking reproductive health information or support. Services are provided in a confidential, respectful, and judgment-free environment.
Staffing & Care Approach
The CICADA Center will initially be staffed one day per week by WV FREE staff, with plans to expand as funding allows. Volunteers from St. John’s Episcopal Church and the broader community will be trained by WV FREE in:
- Trauma-informed care
- Reproductive justice frameworks
- Cultural humility and confidentiality

The Center is centrally located, accessible by public transportation, and designed with privacy in mind. The space includes private counseling rooms, ample storage for supplies, and a welcoming communal area.
A digital presence—including this website and social platforms—ensures access to accurate information beyond our physical space.

Client confidentiality is foundational to everything we do. The CICADA Center maintains clear privacy policies and prepares proactively for safety concerns, including harassment or misinformation campaigns.
