Dear friends, Ninety years ago today, the United States ratified the 19th amendment, giving women the right to vote. So
tonight, we celebrate in Charleston with a Get-Out-the-Vote event with
ally organizations and special guests Louisa May Alcott and Secretary
of State, Natalie Tennant. Read below for more details!
While so much was gained ninety years ago, much remains to be secured. We're still fighting for basic health care for women.
Indeed, as I type this, the
United States Department of Health and Human Services is deciding
whether or not contraception should be considered preventive health
care. While new provisions in health reform will make preventive
care much more affordable, there's currently no promise that
contraception will be considered a top-tier preventive service.
What
do you think? We think it's a no-brainer! Birth control is basic care
for women and families. Contact Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and tell her you would like a guarantee that contraception will be considered preventive care! Call 202-205-5445 or email healthreform@hhs.gov. For more information, click here.
Thank you for taking action!
Yours for choice and justice,

Executive Director WV FREE
